Tax Deductions for Business Moves
IRS Increases Mileage Rates for Moving Expenses:
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) announced in November of 2000 an increase in the standard mileage rates allowed for deductions of automobile expenses for moving and for business. As of January 1, 2001, taxpayers may deduct 12 cents per mile for moving expenses, up from 10 cents. They may also deduct 34.5 cents per mile for business, up from 32.5 cents.
